i wanted crspy lil slices of jalepenos today with dinner, so i hard fried them in sesame oil, and in the process, unknowingly created a VX-type nerve gas, so we set up a fan in the window and sent all the neurotoxic airborne jalepeno oils out to the unsuspecting tourist passers-by.
i went to check on the second Lentinus i found, and a similar fate had become of it. the first one disappeared the day after i found it, and a week or so later i found it half-chewed and dried up on the same stump, with a new fresh one there.
i really wanted to keep tabs on this little shroom, hoping to see what size it would grow to, but i guess El Oso decided he (she?) DID like the flavour after all.
i am suspecting that this particular fungi may be unreported. i see no mention of a ponderosa-pine loving Lentinus that has a trifoil cap (split into three sections of relatively smooth cap). i really wanted to see it age, so i could tell if it was a Ponderosus or not, but oh, well. the bear has other plans. no control of nature...
