vuzh: seven (Medley McGee)
Today I:

  • Visited the worker's comp doc. She suggested acupuncture again, and called the insurance company to try to get it approved. Left a message.
  • Worked on that casting pot again, had to pull the gas jets (a task akin to crawling up underneath a car to remove its sparkplugs?) and extracted a decent amount of pewter from one jet and a major amount from the pilot. Finally it works, the pot stays lit, the day is truly saved, I am a hero.
  • Had to wait - on the commute to work - for trains at BOTH railroad crossings I pass every day. I wonder where all that lumber and molten sulfur is travelling to? I enjoy watching the local freight service (even though the trains made me about 10 minutes late today) I look for particularly nice graffiti on the freight cars - one good mural-form example today said "Asic Aceed" - and I look for who owns each freight car and each locomotive engine... most of the local service belongs to Burlington Northern Santa Fe, but I also saw many Great Northern cars and a Great Western engine. The old out-of-commission sugar factory in Loveland was a Great Western facility before it was bought by White Satin and then put out of production. The Great Western engine that's still in town after nearly 20 years may still be a hold out from that time... I wonder if Great Western is even still a viable freight carrier.
  • Enjoyed the green tea that wifey brewed for me to take to work.
  • Managed to weld in a trigger for the solder's cross piece (an extremely difficult / delicate torching job that was), and what I did was finished by Scott pretty darned well, all told. He didn't do it the way I would've done it, but he did it well, and that's pretty impressive. He's getting way better at assisting me, and I probably ought to point that out to him.
  • Heard on the radio (during an uncharacteristically exciting Morning Sound Alternative on KGNU) that Pole is coming to Boulder! Fuckin' A! Just looked on the ~scape website and saw that he's hitting someplace in Canada, then New York and then Boulder, and that's IT in North America. *blink blink* That never happens. Could Northern Colorado become a destination?? I'm still trying to find out what's going on with this event, since the website for CMYK (the organization putting the thing together) is less than useful. Alright, I actually am not sure if seeing Pole will be awesome or not, since I haven't heard anything they've done since '3'... the last band we saw (Múm) had drastically changed their sound since last I'd heard them.)
  • Am greatly enjoying the Kirchenkampf album I downloaded, cool points to John for releasing his old material for free.
