music meme

ouch, I am hurting from all the snowshovelling. Weirdly, it's my tummy muscles that hurt the worst. I think I read one time that all of your movements should originate from your belly. That was probably from some weird quasi-religious martial arts book I read when I was in middle school, when I read that kind of thing. Strange the things that stick with you.

Anyway, I just saw this meme in the journal of [livejournal.com profile] ribinder, world-famous young-adult author and international superhero spy, (with fists of metal and a heart of gold and eyes that shoot LASERS (she keeps having to buy new glasses.))

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether or not they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your livejournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

I have to alter this, because there are no specific songs I'm into right now. It's going to have to be albums.

1. William Basinski - The Disintegration Loops (This has been playing on my work computer non-stop for about 5 days. It's probably playing right now, but I wouldn't know, I haven't been there all day. Thanks [livejournal.com profile] asphalteden!)
2. Arvo Pärt - Te Deum (Finally, finally, I'm getting around to checking him out. Nice stuff, and it's what I'm in the mood for too. This is wifey's new favorite album.)
3. Muslimgauze - Azzazin (I actually haven't been listening to Muslimgauze much lately, but this is one of my fave albums of all time. Something about the textures used on this record keys into my brain in a way not much else can.)
4. Loscil - Stases (Drones!)
5. Tom Ellard - 80's Cheesecake (Great industrial-dance stuff with clunky repeating voice samples from the guy who was in Severed Heads)
6. Mark Hollis - s/t (oongh. This record is sweet. Sho nuff wish he'd put out a new rekkid)
7. Alta Infidelidad - Cactus y Volcanes (Like if Autechre did Basic Channel style minimal.)

I tag anyone who bothers to read this.

I was born in 1971.

What kind of music do you think is the music of "my generation"??

Seriously, list songs in comments. As many as you like.
