vuzh: seven (saddest music in the world)
many of the musicians and bands i enjoy listening to start off "hard / loud" and later in their careers end up "soft / quiet". Einstürzende Neubauten is a perfect example, although by no means the only example. at first they created a huge din and set fires and screamed and clanged on shit. now they kinda bop along, and although they still clang and grind, they do so... with restraint?

anyhow, i was thinking it might be interesting to take that common trend and go backwards with it, since i started off my musical "career" already quiet and practicing restraint. not that i'll necessarily "do" this, but it'd be a funny, if probably contrived, conceptual-art type thing to do.

then again, thinking about people who have done this kind of thing, it's sometimes pretty cheezy. look at Ministry.

being huge fans of Terry Gilliam, we went to the opening weekend showing of "The Brothers Grimm", which was a fantastic train-wreck of a depressing awful movie. i feel very horrible inside recommending to everyone that it really isn't worth watching. it is a stinking piece of shit. goddamn it.

i want it to be a hit, so Terry will be able to make his next movie with more artistic control and more money, but this was utter crap. and you really shouldn't award a crap product with your patronage.

the strangest look i ever got from someone in my entire life was from my old landlord, Kathy, when her and friends/employees were talking about booze, and i said that i particularly like a good single malt scotch, and that when the scotch was good, drinking it was like drinking the essence of a tree.

she looked at me like i had just snorted her entire daughter-in-law up my nose.
boob job and all.
