losing the fire
Aug. 27th, 2005 01:29 pmmany of the musicians and bands i enjoy listening to start off "hard / loud" and later in their careers end up "soft / quiet". Einstürzende Neubauten is a perfect example, although by no means the only example. at first they created a huge din and set fires and screamed and clanged on shit. now they kinda bop along, and although they still clang and grind, they do so... with restraint?
anyhow, i was thinking it might be interesting to take that common trend and go backwards with it, since i started off my musical "career" already quiet and practicing restraint. not that i'll necessarily "do" this, but it'd be a funny, if probably contrived, conceptual-art type thing to do.
then again, thinking about people who have done this kind of thing, it's sometimes pretty cheezy. look at Ministry.
