damn, Alex. you came out here one week early.
i took caerie up to the high country for her camping trip with
emmanate, and stumbled across a basketful of baby King Boletes (Boletus edulis) at the perfect stage for eating.
also found a few honey mushrooms, some bitter hawk's wings, a few fly amanita buttons, some orange russulas, some icky Inocybes, and lotsa puffballs.
the King Boletes in that area are splendidly, deeply maroon, the deepest red-purple you can imagine, with pink/lavender/white pores in the button stage. mmm. sizzle them bastards up with a little lemongrass and dill.... zoinkens.
