Aug. 14th, 2005 10:28 ami had a fitful night sleep... partially because of the stress of the eventful (but fun) day preceding,
but mostly, i think, because of the little click inside that tells living things that Summer has handed the sceptre over to Autumn, and time has come to prepare for, or become dormant for, or die for Winter. it's strange, yesterday was an overcast and rainy Summer day and today is an overcast and rainy early-Fall day.
the meetup with Alex and Ethan (
object_holder and
tnt_yow) went astonishingly well, we got along and had some fun 'schmoozing'. i took them up to Rollins Pass where i believe i found the Velvet Foot (Flammulina velutipes) -- i haven't formally ID'ed it yet -- but otherwise very little in the way of mushrooms.
later we ate at Dushanbe Tea House and then hit Bart's CD Cellar, where i convinced one of them to buy King Crimson's "Discipline" and the other to buy Hugo Largo's "Mettle" -- so, see? i've increased the amount of good in the world, right there!
on the way home, i had to speak to the police, having witnessed a low-speed fender bender that i myself was almost involved in physically. yipes.
PS: unfortunately, i forgot to take photos! :(
(not of the accident, of the meetup!)
