a review of a CD from a couple of years ago.
nice Engrish.

Crook'd Finger is me, and FZZY PMPR is [livejournal.com profile] iancstewart

on the project named Crookâd Finger it plays no_stop underground rave party music, - title aft [?], 6 songs. Crook'd Finger touches their aim. Very flashed, x_ray eyes could be a soundtrk for some movie shot at night, panoramas over the roads where car lights become blazing and unfocused trail, and who knows what acid inside the veins. You can get up and begin to dance, prey of some trance. Good to be listened too while You're driving. Elettronic, samples, cool_edit, re_birth? This tape is split with Fzzy Pmpr, and because there are not absolutely ingo about it, i don't know who there's behind. Same arguments for this project, continuous mixing, - but in an easier_listening way, not so underground, - a lot of samples, - maybe not so digital, but a sort of marriage of longplayers dj, - 10 trx, title (try to spell it) fdgybtns. Both the projects are available in realmedia audio on Ian's website.

once for Autoreverse Magazine, i used Altavista's Babelfish translator to translate all of my reviews into another language, and then back into English.

(if you really wanted to read some of them, you could go here. you can't even tell if i liked what i'm reviewing or not. beware the white text on blue background. ian, you sadist!)

i thought it was hilarious, because i'd already seen a bunch of reviews like the one above, most even worse than that.
everyone else was just irritated.
see, [livejournal.com profile] solopaola, i was joking... THAT guy was serious.

progress

i made some significant progress on a few of my recording projects today, much to my surprise.

i haven't been very accomplished in recording for the last year or more,
so this almost full day devoted to recording was anomalous and kind of intriguing. hopefully i can keep it up for a while.

there was a point where i was running something in the studio, and then running back and checking on something in the living room where the computer is, and back and forth. someday i'm going to have to put a mac in the studio.

so, i recorded a couple of sound sources for the industrial-ambient project,
one was water coming to a boil -- and i followed that one through to a final mixdown today. it sounds pretty apocalyptic.

i also blasted some drum beats to oblivion -- sound sources for that PBK collaboration.

i found an old source recording of an oscillating fan that i had contact mic'ed -- processed that and mixed it down... yay!

i may dig out an old DAT that i made at the Denver Art Museum years ago. i went around recording ventilation noises at that very neat, and noisy building, much to the chagrin of the security people there.

uh, me tired.
