slayer

slayer is actually a really damned good rock and roll band.
it just so happens they sing about disembowelment instead of love.

i think it's odd that they have two guitarists, jeff hanneman and kerry king, and for 10+ years i haven't been able to tell them apart stylistically whatsoever. it's like they are the same person, or one brain with two bodies; a skanky blond body and a skanky dark-haired body.
it's also funny that it really doesn't matter what notes they play in their solos, so long as there are lots of paradiddles and hammer-ons and so long as it's really, really fast... that way you can't even tell if any of the notes they play are in the right key.

dave lombardo is the man on drums, and that is for sure.

i've been listening to heavy metal tapes i used to listen to in high school. it's weird. most of it is so unlistenably horrible. but slayer rules. that's all.
