hair
i noticed this morning that in my little receding hairline area that there are about three or four brand new ugly little squiggly hairs.
where did they come from?
i just assumed that once the hair was on its way it didn't make any kind of progress after that.
and speaking of hair...
i told myself before the summer started that my hair was going to get cut short.
i made it as far as cutting half of it off.
i used to have a very long ponytail.
now, i can't seem to bring myself to cut the rest off. i don't know what i'm afraid of, but it's unmistakably fear.
it's not fear of looking dumb, because i already look dumb. cutting the useless stuff off will have to make things somewhat better.
i'm almost 30 for chrissakes, white adult males with long hair -- how much tackier can you get??
especially with aforementioned receding hairline.
but i'm afraid.
what am i afraid of???
somewhere in the back of my psyche the "Samson" legend is lurking its ugly self.
if i hate me with short hair, i can always grow it back! so why hesitate?
eventually my dislike for how i look with the goofy long hair will outweigh my fear, and it'll be gone.

actually, the hair wouldn't show up in a photo, since i wear it in a ponytail all the time.
go back to here and imagine two feet of hair behind me, and that's what i used to look like.
